A statue made of car tyres
The competition was announced on the first of October. Nobody expected those young students to provide such good works of art. The third place was won by a girl who made a huge poster out of all possible things that you can recycle. There was a plastic bottle and a metal can. Lots of papers and even a figure made of glass. The picture was an abstract illustration, which was also quite unusual, taking into account that the girl was only twelve years old. The second place was taken by a boy who made a sculpture out of glass jars. It looked like a figure made of ice. Finally, the first place went to Patrick. He created a very interesting stature made of old car tyres. His father works at a car service centre so he might have given him some ideas. But it doesn"t really matter. The sculpture has been placed in the main hall of our school. Now everybody can admire it. The head is made out of an old tyre that has two colourful buttons and a wig attached, and the neck, made of a strong spring, has a woollen scarf wound around it. There are two car tyres that serve as the body and more springs that serve as the hands and the legs. What does the figure represent? Well, it seems that nobody really knows, not even the author himself! But it looks so fantastic and unique that the jury could not help noticing it in the first place.
